The Team Myderwyk 2025 riders, from left, are: Craig Wilson, Rob Garden, Gregor Stuart, Hans Myderwyk, Rob Legge and Chris Graham.
Team Myderwyk raised nearly $70,000 for the Princess Margaret Cancer Research Centre in this year’s Ride to Conquer Cancer.
The team has raised $440,000 over the past eight years and has covered 19,000 kilometers for the cause. This year more than $20 million was raised by 5,000 riders.
This year’s team included Craig Wilson (Captain), Rob Garden, Hans Myderwyk, Chris Graham, Gregor Stuart, and Rob Legge. The seventh member, Neal Kadish, was unable to ride due to an injury.
Team Myderwyk started seven years ago riding for mom Lucy Myderwyk, who at that time, was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer.
“The pride that she felt, and the strength that she gave us the first two years was more powerful than words can describe. It gave us hope, joy, and a reason to ride. Sadly, we now ride in memory of her. On July 13, 2019, Mom lost her battle with cancer,” the team explained on the Ride website. “We will continue to ride. For Mom, a cure will come too late, but we will change the story for someone else.”
The ride started at Sherway Gardens in Toronto, and the destination on Day 1 was McMaster University in Hamilton (a 170 km ride). On Day 2, the team headed to Peller Estates Winery in Niagara on the Lake, an easier 100 km ride.
