The County’s Instant Rivalry joined Country music celebrities when they performed recently at the Country Music Association conference and awards at Markham.

The brother and sister duo was selected by a jury of industry experts to showcase at the event. Caleb and Megan Hutton, started playing together as Instant Rivalry while attending high school.

The New Faces Going Places Showcase, hosted by Michelle Wright and Ted Roop, provided a unique opportunity for Instant Rivalry to reach industry members from booking agencies, radio, publishing and record labels.

“We were so thrilled and honoured to have been selected to showcase at the CMAO conference,” said Megan Hutton.

They met Country singers such as Tim Hicks, Tebey, Jess Muskoluke, Autumn Hill, Jason Blaine, and their idols Michelle Wright and Deric Ruttan.

“We really hit it off with Jason McCoy of The Road Hammers, who is probably the nicest, most down-to-earth guy I’ve ever met,” said Megan. “Everyone was kind. We were well received and are very hopeful to be in the nominations category next year.”

The Huttons also reconnected with Bruce Good (The Good Brothers) and Russel Decarle (Prairie Oyster) who they met through the Next Country Music Star competition.

“We made some major market radio connections, as well to help promote our upcoming album,” she noted. “Everyone loved our on and off stage personalities and really enjoyed our unique, confident music. We were the only band to perform acoustically, and even without the 10 piece band, no one batted an eye.”

Instant Rivalry recently won the Next Country Star Search Competition which earned them a spot on the main stage at The Havelock Jamboree with such acts as Big and Rich, Clint Black, Tanya Tucker, Brett Kissel and more.

Megan says the two are giving it all they’ve got to further their career and make the County proud. They were in Nashville earlier this month.

“Nashville was great for us as well. Though we are unable to talk about a few of the things that happened, we can say we made some great connections and our new songs have the potential to really go places, according to industry professionals and producers we spoke with –  like Boomer Castleman.”

They are working on their  second album, due to release early summer 2015.
