The municipality will defer the June and September property tax due dates by 90 days to help ease the economic impact of COVID-19.
This deferral until later in the year is to help provide cash flow relief for County residents over the next few months.
The tax instalment due dates of June 15 and September 15 have been deferred to September 15 and November 16, respectively. The municipality will mail out tax bill notices in August.
The municipality has deferred property tax due dates for payments made directly to the County of Prince Edward. Property owners who pay their taxes through their mortgage should contact their mortgage company to determine if an adjustment can be made to their mortgage payment.
In addition to the tax payment deferral, the County will not register tax arrears certificates on properties in 2020.
Utilities support extended through remainder of 2020
The County is not deferring water and wastewater bills in order to ensure the municipality has the financial means to operate the systems.
However, penalty and interest will not be charged on water and wastewater bills for the remainder of 2020. The municipality will not be disconnecting water and wastewater users for non-payment in 2020.
If you cannot pay your utilities bills in full, contact the County to make a payment arrangement. Call 613.476.2148 extension 1523 from 9 am – 5 pm, Monday to Friday.
