County opens some recreation amenities

Just in time for the warmer weather, the municipality amended its emergency orders to open several recreational amenities.

The province recently amended its emergency orders to allow these recreation amenities to reopen during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The following amenities have reopened in Prince Edward County:
– Outdoor sports facilities and multi-use fields, including baseball diamonds, soccer fields, tennis/pickle ball courts, the skate park in Picton, and basketball courts
– Off-leash dog areas
– Outdoor picnic sites, benches and shelters in park and recreational areas

People who use these amenities must maintain a physical distance of at least two metres from any other person, unless they are part of the same household.

All outdoor playgrounds, play structures, splash pads, and equipment and portions of park and recreational areas containing outdoor fitness equipment remain closed under provincial order.

As amenities reopen, the municipality is reminding the public to continue to take precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Please practice physical distancing, wash and sanitize your hands frequently, and stay home when you are ill.
