The semi-annual Countylicious event celebrating local food and drink in Prince Edward County is toasting its 10th year.
Organizers and chefs from nine participating restaurants raised a glass to the spring event running April 1 – 24 at a launch at Portabella Restaurant of this round of “prix fixe” menus set at $30 and $35.
Co-owner Don King noted the event is well known for promoting the County, its restaurants and chefs and “is a great event for people who don’t normally go to restaurants, or to try a restaurant they might not normally go to.”
Chef Lili Sullivan, of the Waupoos Estates Winery Gazebo Restaurant, noted highlights of Countylicious meals are always the local focus on food and drink.
Some of her local elements will include fish caught by the County’s Kendal Dewey; beets from Hagerman farms she pickled last fall; shallots from Laundry’s and chicken confit using Prinzen’s chickens and Goodfellow Meats sausages.
An example for dessert, is her Cherry Porter Chocolate Cake (Drunken cherry compote) in which she uses components from the winery and its chocolatier specialty room. The jelly donuts, of course, are made in house daily, with chocolate Baco Noir jelly. Click here to see the full menu and reservation details.
Reservations are recommended at all the restaurants. Participants include Agrarian, Amelia’s Garden, Clara’s at the Claramount Inn, East & Main Bistro, Gazebo Restaurant at Waupoos Estates Winery, Merrill Inn, Portabella, The Drake Devonshire and The Hubb.
