County’s Greg Hinde wins national radio award for Sideroads Blues show

County resident Greg Hinde has received a national radio association award for his local radio show Sideroads –The Home of the Blues in Prince Edward County.
His show, a feature of 99.3 County FM, was announced as winner of the National Campus & Community Radio Association (NCRA) Community Radio Award this week for the category of Music: Blues or Similar Music.
The NCRA is a non-profit, national organization made up of 117 radio stations. 99.3 County FM is one of many community stations under this umbrella, where they provide their member stations with resources to help stations grow and serve their respective communities.
The NCRA also gives out Community Radio Awards (CRABOS), which celebrates outstanding achievements within campus and community radio stations. The awards were presented June 20th in Nanaimo, British Columbia during the 43rd National Campus and Community Radio Conference.
Hinde is one of 99.3 County FM’s renowned deejays with decades of musical experience. He is a self-taught musician having learned to play multiple instruments. He writes, plays and records all of his music from his home and often performs solo gigs in and around Prince Edward County.
“SideRoads is one of the crowns of our specialty programming,” added Craig Mills, 99.3 County FM General Manager. “Greg has crafted the show to celebrate all forms of Blues music. He uses his own passion as a musician to share his love of the Blues through all its joy, catharsis, and powerful storytelling.”
Hinde hosts Sideroads – The Home of The Blues in Prince Edward County on 99.3 County FM every Tuesday from 8 to 10 p.m. Sideroads follows his passion for music and the arts, with Hinde featuring his favourites every week.
“I am extremely proud to be a member of the 99.3 County FM family,” said Hinde. “It is an enormous honour to represent our station on a national level. Just like all of our volunteers I work very hard to make Sideroads a program that listeners can enjoy. Being selected as winner in my category fills me with pride and validates my efforts.
