COVID-19 grant program delivers support to local groups

The municipality and The County Foundation have awarded grants to 33 community groups and organizations through the Municipal COVID-19 Recovery Grant program.

“These groups are at the heart of our community. Unfortunately, the pandemic has put undue hardship on them and really hampered their fundraising opportunities,” said Mayor Steve Ferguson. “I am hopeful that this funding will help them get through the next several months so that they can weather the storm and continue to serve and enrich our community for years to come.”

The one-time program was made possible through unallocated funds from the 2020 Municipal Community Grant program as well as funds from The County Foundation. The municipality provided $68,600 with The County Foundation contributing $5,000. An additional $1,000 was provided by The County Foundation from the PEC Helping PEC COVID-19 Fund to assist with several health-related requests.

Jefferson Gilbert, Executive Director with The County Foundations says eligibility requirements were kept to a minimum to help the greatest number of groups and organizations as possible.

“We are pleased that we were able to deliver financial support to all 33 groups that met the eligibility requirements,” he said. “I want to thank community members who have given generously to The County Foundation and the PEC Helping PEC COVID-19 Fund.”
