Criminal charges following search at Sophiasburgh residence

A 54-year-old Sophiasburgh man is facing several charges following an OPP search at a residence on Bethel Road.

Prince Edward OPP Const. Patrick Menard said the warrant was executed Wednesday, Jan. 24 by members of the OPP detachment with the assistance of the Tactical Response Unit (TRU), Emergency Response Team (ERT), and the Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU).

“As a result of the search, several firearms, and a large amount of dried cannabis marijuana were seized along with other evidence of drug trafficking. The total amount of drugs seized represents an approximate street value of $ 100,000.”

The Sophiasburgh man has been charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking, production of a schedule two substance, and numerous firearms related offences. He was held for bail and is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville.
