Each year there are a number of special days marked on Glenwood Cemetery’s calendar and some of these days have become annual events. Included among these events are a jazz concert in the Glenwood chapel in August, Veterans’ Day in September, and the Christmas wreath sale in December.
This year, a new special day will be introduced. Decoration Day will take place on Sunday, June 3rd from noon to 4 p.m. to honour those who rest in Glenwood. This day will provide an opportunity for people to visit the graves of their family members, friends, and others to pay their respects and to share memories of their loved ones. It is an occasion to recall and celebrate the lives of Glenwood’s residents. Visitors may choose to bring flowers to decorate graves or they may choose to purchase silk flowers which will be available on site.

Visitors to Glenwood on Decoration Day will enjoy the music of guitarist Ken Hudson from noon until 2 p.m. This will be followed by a memorial service conducted by Rev. Audrey Whitney in the Chapel at 2p.m. Vocal soloist Lorain Sine will perform at the service.
A cemetery is an ongoing record of the lives of individuals and their community. On Decoration Day, visitors will have an opportunity to learn more about the history of
Glenwood and the community that it serves by joining Peter Lockyer for a guided walking tour.
