Elks Royal Purple support hospital’s Life Saver campaign

Elks-Royal-Purple-donation
The Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation was honoured to be the recipient of $500 from the Elks Royal Purple #147. The group held a bridge luncheon to raise funds for the current LIFE SAVER Campaign to replace $350,000 worth of medical equipment at Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital. On hand to accept the donation from Elks Royal Purple members was Penny Rolinski, executive director of the PECMH Foundation.

“The primary purpose of the PECMH Foundation is to enhance the quality of patient care in our community by raising money for the priority equipment at our County Hospital. The Foundation plays a critical role in providing funding for essential, specialized equipment,” said Rolinski. “This financial contribution from the Elks Royal Purple will go a long way towards improving the quality of care for residents in our community who require this necessary treatment, close to home.”

Rolinski also added that the Foundation’s Christmas Appeal has been distributed to each home in the County and is available online at www.pecmhf.ca.
“Right now, our hospital urgently needs to replace medical equipment used in the Emergency, Inpatient and the Endoscopy Departments. This equipment is critical to providing services within our hospital and is not paid for through government funding.”

Gifts to the LIFE SAVER Campaign will help replace:

Colonoscopes to detect colorectal cancer

Gastroscopes to detect potentially life-threatening gastrointestinal (GI) conditions

Rhinolaryngoscope for use in the Emergency Department and Ear, Nose, and Throat Clinic

Blood and chemical analyzer used for blood and chemistry tests in the emergency department

Vital Signs Monitors to measure blood pressure, heart rate, temperature and blood oxygen levels

Defibrillators to restart a heart

“Donations make a difference, both in showing support for PECMH, and in helping us reach our goal of $350,000 to replace this essential medical equipment. Your generosity is a wonderful way to express the spirit of the season and a thoughtful way to add meaning to your own holiday experience,” said Rolinski.
