Garden Show Gala in full bloom this weekend

The McClure Cup will be awarded for the Best Peony

The Prince Edward County Horticultural Society will host its annual Gardeners’ Gala – From Colony to Country – Saturday, June 9 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Crystal Palace, Picton Fairgrounds.
The judged floral competition show opens at 10:30 am for viewing. Admission is free of charge and amateurs are welcome to show off their County Garden Winners. Entries will be received on Friday, June 8 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Click here for classes to enter.  A self-guided Jubilee Garden Walking Tour will be held from 10a.m. to 4p.m. Maps may be purchased for $5 from the Horticultural booth.
A Victorian Tea Room will be set up from 11:30 am – 3 p.m. Terry Sprague will be the keynote speaker from 2-3 p.m. in the Blue Bird Building.  A barbecue will follow from 4-6 p.m.
The Gala will feature local vendors, exhibitors, professional floral displays and gardening information.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

Grand Opening 11.30 a.m.
Victorian Tea Room.  11.30 a.m. to 3p.m. $5.00
Talk by Terry Sprague. “P.E.C. Our Natural Gem.”  2.00 PM. $ 5.00
Barbecue. 4-6p.m. Burgers, hot dogs, veggies, salad and dessert. $10
$20 ticket includes all three events. Door prizes draw included with ticket purchase.

Jubilee Garden Walking Tour.  10a.m. to 4p.m. Self-guided walking tour.  Maps may be purchased for $5 from the Horticultural booth.
Green Elephant Table, used garden books, tools containers, ornaments etc.  If you have anything to donate, please just put it on the table.
