Federal funds flow to a dozen County organizations to offset COVID-19 costs

Bay of Quinte riding MP Neil Ellis has begun site visits to local organizations which received federal emergency community services funding to help offset COVID-19 related operating costs.

Since April 2020, $666,153 has been delivered to 42 local organizations that provide direct services to the public, especially to vulnerable, or at-risk community members. A total of 21 organizations received their funding through the United Way Centraide Canada (UWCC); another 19 organizations received their support through the Community Foundations of Canada (CFC); and two organizations were assisted through the Canadian Red Cross (CRC). In terms of regional allocation, 22 organizations operate from Belleville, 12 from Picton, and eight from Trenton.

“It’s great to know that this funding — which could be used to train volunteers, increase home deliveries or transportation services, and acquire PPE — has helped these organizations continue their work during this very tough time,” said Ellis. “I really look forward to connecting with many of these organizations again to see the achievements they’ve reached despite COVID-19.”
