Fire at Royal Hotel not considered suspicious

The cause of an early morning fire at the Royal Hotel in Picton is under investigation, but Fire Chief Chad Brown states it is not considered suspicious.
Prince Edward County Fire Station 1 responded to the alarm activation at hotel at Monday, Feb. 10 at 12:20 a.m. Chief Brown notes fire personnel quickly extinguished the fire in the basement of the hotel. Damages are estimated at $80,000.
All guests and staff had evacuated the building. Paramedics transported one patient to hospital for smoke inhalation.
Chief Brown states the patient was released early this morning.
