Full burn ban for County lifted

UPDATE JUNE 25 – Burn ban lifted

JUNE 24 – Due to high winds and dry conditions, Fire Chief Scott Manlow has issued a total burn ban throughout the County of Prince Edward.

A total burn ban prohibits all outdoor burning, including brushfire, campfires, and burn barrels.

The Fire Chief evaluates weather and ground conditions to determine the necessity of a burn ban. When conditions improve, the ban will be updated.

Prince Edward County Fire and Rescue reminds residents that a burning permit is required for all open air burning.

Residents can apply for an annual burning permit by visiting Fire Station 1 at 8 McDonald Drive in Picton, Shire Hall at 332 Picton Main Street or by applying online. Burning permits cost $20 and expire at the end of the calendar year (December 31, 2020).
