Fire on County Road 49 destroys a barn

Thick, black smoke could be seen for miles as Prince Edward County Fire and Rescue extinguished a blaze at 2245 County Road 46 Tuesday morning.
At 9:04 a.m. Aug. 12 County firefighters from stations one, two and four responded to the barn fire on County Road 49.
The department notes apparatus and firefighters quickly controlled the blaze while preventing fire extension to nearby buildings. The OPP were also on scene to help manage traffic. One lane was closed at the time. Hydro One also attended the scene.
The barn was being used for storage and was destroyed.
Firefighters were on the scene until about 1 p.m. The cause remains under investigation.
