Five suspects arrested in home invasion

UPDATE – Following a court appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice, Belleville, Monday, July 31, all five accused have been held in custody to return to Belleville court again on Aug. 2. The suspects and victim in the matter were known parties to each other.

Prince Edward OPP have arrested five suspects in a home invasion in Rossmore, Friday.

A 911 call at about 9:15 p.m. alerted Prince Edward OPP officers to a disturbance at a Reddick Street residence.

Police learned five people had entered the home with weapons, and stole cash, electronics and clothing from the occupants. The suspects fled the scene in a vehicle.

Descriptions of the suspects and their vehicle were broadcast to surrounding police agencies and a short time later the vehicle was observed by an OPP officer in Odessa.

A high risk takedown of the vehicle and occupants resulted in the arrest of five suspects.
A subsequent search of the vehicle yielded weapons used in the robbery and a large quantity of marijuana.

Four adults, all age 19, and one young person – from the South Frontenac and Kingston area – are being held for bail hearings Monday July 31 in Belleville courts.

They are facing charges of robbery with a weapon, use of a firearm while committing an offence, possession of a scheduled substance, and possession of stolen property.
