The second annual guide produced by the Community Development department has expanded to include Consecon along with Picton, Bloomfield and Wellington.

“Consecon sees becoming part of the 2016 Welcome Guide as an opportunity to showcase the County’s hidden gem as a must-see destination,” said Janet Battaglio, Consecon Business Association representative.“Being included in this guide will help us draw locals, visitors and tourists to enjoy and support our established and quickly growing new businesses, organizations and wonderful community events.”

Welcome-Guide-Covr16-1Lyndsay Richmond, manager of the Picton BIA said the new combined guide captures the individuality of each community, while incorporating the County brand.

“To achieve this, each the business associations provided photos and editorial for their own sections, the municipality provided the introduction, and the designers, Vaughan Group, ensured that the overall look and feel of the guide reflected the County brand.”

“It’s a real partnership,” said Neil Carbone, Director of Community Development. “About two and-a-half years ago we approached the three existing business associations and asked if they had any interest in a combined product. We wanted to ensure that all of our initiatives that support businesses are aligned with one another and a combined guide would help to eliminate some of the gaps, as well as eliminate some of the overlaps.”

The Welcome Guide provides visitors with a description of each unique community, a directory of the member businesses within each association and maps
of each town. An electronic version of the guide will be available online on each of the associations’ websites (listed below) and at www.visitthecounty.ca.

“All four associations agree that our main goal is to provide easy access to information for those visiting Prince Edward County,” said Evan Nash, Chair of the Wellington & District Business Association. “Using one guide to provide information for all four communities and over 370 businesses will make it a lot easier for visitors to plan their trip.”

Patricia McDermott, Chair of the Bloomfield Area Business Association says combining forces and resources with the other associations works.

“We were able to reach more customers in 2015 – increasing production to 15,000 copies. Due to the overwhelming success and demand, the production has been increased to 20,000 for 2016. The combined Guide is a win-win for us all.”

“The 2016-17 Welcome Guide makes it easy for visitors to find the information they need for all four communities, in one accessible booklet,” said Grace Nyman, Community Development Coordinator. “The Guide was designed to be a companion piece to the Arts Trail, the Taste Trail, the Red Map and our other marketing initiatives. It would not have come together without a tremendous amount of collaboration and support from the boards and members of the associations and the Vaughan Group.”
