Free parking at conservation areas continues until September

Free parking at Quinte Conservation’s areas has been extended once again in effort to help connect residents to public green spaces during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The pandemic has, in one way or another, impacted everyone in our watershed and throughout the rest of Canada,” said Corporate Services Manager Tammy Smith. “We understand residents may be facing financial insecurities and if we can help alleviate some stress and connect individuals and families to nature at no cost, that is what we will aim to do.”

Visitors may continue to access the watershed’s conservation areas at no cost until Sept. 1, 2020. In the County, those include the Beaver Meadow Wildlife Area, the H.J. McFarland, Little Bluff, Macaulay Mountain and Massassauga Point conservation areas.

Guests able to do so are welcome to make donations that go toward preserving and protect these spaces.

“Donations to our conservation areas are always greatly appreciated. Individuals who feel connected to these spaces and who are able to help can still do so. Even the smallest gift helps to preserve, protect, and maintain these areas.”

Quinte Conservation thanks visitors for practicing physical distancing protocols and for following other COVID-19 measures to keep these areas open and safe for themselves and other users.

Quinte Conservation is a community-based environmental protection agency. It serves 18 municipalities in the watersheds of the Moira, Napanee and Salmon Rivers and Prince Edward County.
