Fundraising for the Ostrander Point Appeal continues on September 5

Riverwalk-Poster-verJUST 7 TICKETS LEFT! Intrepid Prince Edward County Field Naturalists, led by Myrna Wood, will continue their fight to Save Ostrander Point from Industrial Wind Turbines on Sept. 2,3 and 4 at the Demorestville Town Hall. The Environmental Review Tribunal will reconvene, as directed by the Appeal Court of Ontario, to consider the matter of whether the serious and irreversible harm to south shore Blanding’s Turtles, caused by construction of industrial wind turbines and their access roads, can be remedied in any way.

“Funds are still needed to pay for legal costs,” notes Cheryl Anderson, of PECFN.
“On Saturday, Sept. 5 from 3 to 5 pm supporters will gather at Mill Falls House B&B to sample some County wine, enjoy some music and nibble on canapés. Guides will be available to lead walks through the beautiful grounds.”

“Yesterday the river bed was almost dry and clouds of sulphur butterflies rose up from the small puddles,” said proprietor Sacha Warunkiw. “Tiny leopard frogs jumped out of our path and Monarchs floated over the swamp milkweed. A stock of brilliant red cardinal flower lit up the steam bank. It was spectacular!”

Guests are encouraged to reserve in advance to ensure adequate supplies of food and beverages. The event is free of charge, although donations are encouraged. Everybody welcome. Make your reservations at: www.saveostranderpoint.org
