Gardeners planting, in memory, at Hospice

Prince Edward County master gardeners planted a commemorative hydrangea on the grounds of Hospice Prince Edward this week, in memory of Kathy MacPherson, one of their members, who died in August, at the Hospice. Kathy’s husband Doug, and several other master gardeners were present. Some of the gardeners are also Hospice volunteers.

Gardener Art Miersma planted the hydrangea with the assistance of the master gardeners. He has gardening in the adjacent Hospice Serenity Garden, doing some plantings and maintenance as a volunteer.

“My sister-in-law June Spurr passed through here in the spring. I really didn’t know much about hospice until then,” said Miersma. “They are caring, and professional and the people of Prince Edward County should be proud to have the service here.”
