Gas station for Wellington one of three site plans before council

A gas station for Wellington will be on its way if council approves a site plan agreement at its meeting tonight.
Council will receive a report recommending approval of a site plan with Grant Castle Corp to permit the construction of a new gas station, convenience store and restaurant with a drive-through in Wellington.
The site is on Main Street, just east of Tara Hall.
County council will also receive two other site plan agreement files – for retirement home beds and trailer sites.
Manor on Loyalist Parkway, in Hallowell, seeks expansion of the retirement home for a proposed 1,126 square metre (12,130 square feet) two-storey addition to increase the number of beds on site to 58.
In 2007, the Manor constructed an addition to increase the number of beds to 37 and expanded the dining room area.
Council will hear that planning staff, Chief Building Officer, Engineering Development and Works Commission, Fire Department, Quinte Conservation. Ministry of Transportation and legal counsel are satisfied with the proposed site plan drawings and agreement.
Council is also expected to approve a site plan agreement to expand Quinte Isle Campark, on the south side of East Lake.
The seasonally-operated trailer park proposal is to ad 136 park model trailers and 58 trailer sites near the southern end of the property, near Lake Ontario in addition to the existing approved comfort station, restaurant and marine facilities. The agreement covers 62 hectares.
In 2013, council approved an official plan amendment and rezoning to permit the redevelopment of existing unserviced trailer and RV sites.

I don’t think many would want a Tim’s drive through next to their residential property. Are there not less disruptive locations? Do residential taxpaying concerns ever trump opportune business? This Council seems to be right out of tune.

@Larry Rose, I think the problem residents have is not the gas station, but the drive-through Tim Horton’s that comes with it.
Wellington is fast approaching the population of Picton….Picton Has at leat 5 Gas stations and convience stores attached. Wellington NEDS ther option of getting Gas..It’s a No BRAINER..
