Second World War veteran George Wright is one of Prince Edward County’s most distinguished soldiers, first with the Hastings Prince Edward Regiment. He was also among 13 members of the ‘Devil’s Brigade’ a legendary unit created in 1942 in Montana, composed of Canadian and American soldiers, originally as a parachute unit that would land behind enemy lines and sabotage installations. Instead, it became a versatile assault group with a reputation for specialized reconnaissance and raiding.

Wright was also a member of the Picton police force for 25 years where he eventually became Detective Sergeant. He died in December 2018 at age 98.

Very nice and welcomed recognition. It would also be nice if a plague was added so visitors could understand why the Boulevard was named after our hero of war for the freedom of this country and the world he helped to give us.
