Get your plaid on this Saturday!

Saturday is Lumber Jack Day in Prince Edward County!

Get your plaid on for Saturday, Oct. 22 as the owners of Eph*ra Events – Dawn Stafrace, Lyndsay Richmond and Sonya Szabo – have partnered with the Hayloft Dancehall to host a fun filled, Canadian themed day at the venue in Cherry Valley.

Listen to Moon Sugar; challenge a friend to the log rolling competition; try a Caesar with garnishes; experience different tastes; check out the vendor’s market, have a pint and stick around for the party.

Organizers want to see as many friendly-bearded faces and plaid shirts as possible.

“Lumber Jack Day, also dubbed National Pancake Day (yes there is such a thing) is celebrated every September 26,” said Stafrace. “With all the other events that happen annually in PEC in the early fall, we decided to move it out to late fall, when there is generally less happening.”

For the first year’s festival, the trio will host the 2pm – 8pm activities, with the Hayloft continuing the day with a Hosier Hoedown after-party, 9pm – late.

While tickets are sold separately for the two events, there are more than enough to keep you celebrating Lumber Jacks and Janes all hours of the day.

“Starting at 2pm and running until 8pm, the festival will feature food trucks, a vendor’s market, beer, cider and cocktails, games, competitions, entertainment and more,” said Szabo. “We are very fortunate to have some incredible community sponsors, including Home Hardware, Loyalist Contractors, McDougall Insurance and Hagerman Farms,” adds Richmond. “This has allowed us to secure the Carver Kings (as seen on HGTV), an inflatable log rolling competition, fall activities for the children and some incredible musicians.”

And if you want more, attendees are invited to an after-party featuring B Rich, who delivered a new anthem of small town Canada in 2013, ‘Out for a Rip’. In addition to B Rich and his crew, the after-party will hear beats from a popular special guest DJ.
