Go Fund Me page for man who lost his life ice fishing nears goal to create memorial bench, help family

A Go Fund Me page for Tyler Ballance launched yesterday has already reached $13,610 of a $15,000 goal.

Ballance, 23, fell through the ice while fishing on the Bay of Quinte Jan. 9.

“He was a vibrant, loving and caring young man whose life was taken from him way too soon,” states the page, organized by Matthew Bilow, on behalf of the family. “Tyler had many friends, family and a community that loved him beyond the stars. He was an avid angler and hunter… An amazing young man with a heart of pure gold, Tyler will be mourned, missed and always loved by so many.”

Ballance, was a personal support worker as part of Quinte Health Care.

The page notes friends would like to place a memorial bench in his memory, and honour, with the location to be determined by his family.

“We are requesting donations to help us make this happen. Any funds raised beyond the cost of manufacturing and installing the memorial will be given to Tyler’s family to help cover accumulating costs associated with this tragic loss.”
