Venture is a unique academic enrichment opportunity for motivated grade 9 and 10 Panthers. The program will be multi-layered and will have in-class and extra-curricular dimensions. This program will provide students with outstanding preparation for University. Students will be timetabled together for a minimum of one course per semester to ensure that their learning can extend to and from the classroom. 21st Century skill development will enhance their educational experience beyond the classroom through the use of technology, trips and hands on activities that will encourage collaboration and critical thinking. Venture leads to the University Advanced Placement Opportunities in grades 11 and 12 in addition to enrichment certificates.

Students selected for this program will be given a passport that will allow them to track experiential activities and learning opportunities. These opportunities will earn stamps for their individual passports. The passports and the required stamps they have earned will give them access to two year end trips; one at the end of grade 9 and one at the end of grade 10. The trips will be student funded but participation will be inclusive with financial assistance available if necessary. These trips will be to Montreal and to Washington. Students will be required to complete several independent learning opportunities. They will be required to not only have their passports stamped and must also report back to their fellow learners as to what they have done to enrich their own learning. The format of the report will reflect the students’ strengths and 21st Century technology will be supported and encouraged.

Venture is a unique Prince Edward Collegiate Institute initiative. We strive to provide all learners with the experiences they will need to ensure success in their future endeavors. We are proud to declare that the Venture Program has evolved and will continue to evolve as the needs of our motivated Panthers continue to
change and develop.
