Guests ‘nuts’ about edible varieties

A good crowd gathered at Bloomfield Town hall Saturday, September 25 to learn everything they needed to know about edible nuts, including information about purchasing, planting and harvesting, from speaker Garnet Northey. Participants roamed Gary Caley’s five-acre nut orchard on County Road 12, sampling the wide variety of edibles including butternuts, heartnuts, walnuts and hickory nuts. Hosted by the Prince Edward Stewardship Council, the Edible Nut Workshop was one of a series of enjoyable opportunities to learn about  natural heritage.
