Hangover 3 worse than the second

In keeping with my policy of being a day late and a dollar short, I’ll review The Man of Steel next week because I want to rant about two movies that have already crashed and burned.
After Earth is an after-thought. For whatever reason this movie was made, it shouldn’t have been. Filmed almost entirely in front of a green screen starring Jadyn Smith and his dad Will, it’s an excuse to give Jadyn a film, and nothing more. Will is barely in it and it lacks any real heart, story, or reason to stay awake. The added bonus, it’s directed by Goodnight Shymalan.
I wouldn’t watch After Earth again if it was the last film on earth.
I didn’t have it in my Top 10 of the summer so it doesn’t ruin the list yet but yikes.
Maybe Will should go back to giving advice on how to parent, love, be a good husband and settling his divorce. But I’m not bitter.
In other irrelevant afterthoughts, oh, how the mighty have fallen.

The Hangover 3 is even worse than the second and that’s a shame because I was a huge fan of the first one.
Ya ya I know and until I mix in the occasional salad, I’ll be a huge fan of anything I like. Ba dum dum. Tip your waittress.
Seriously though, the third instalment is the worst so far. It’s mean, nasty and violent.
People get killed.
I know why.
They had no story.
No new way to bring the elements together again that made the first one so funny. It was simple. Four guys in Vegas, things go astray and then they try to sort it out.
The second one sent them to a foreign soil which presented all kinds of new problems and showed this new side to the “Wolf Pack”. Most notable, it brought out this weird dark Allan character that felt like the actor playing him (Zach Galifianakis) was channelling his inner Val Kilmer in as much as he was becoming a huge pain in the ego.
Our story so far.
Mr. Chow has escaped from prison and embroiled the boys in yet another adventure. It’s all fun and games until Big Bad Gangster Marshall (John Goodman) shows up and takes the always hapless Doug hostage until Chow and Marshall’s gold is returned to him.

The boys have to go to Vegas again and while there are a couple of funny moments, and more full frontal male nudity, none of it works, none has the charm of the first, and at times, it’s just nasty.

The obligatory final scene post credits featuring yet another abomination done to Stu can’t make up for the lack of anything funny in the first 100 minutes.
It’s uneven and formulaic at best and tedious and mean at its worst.
I was disappointed, These guys should be funny.
There should be some chemistry and the failure has to land squarely on the writing.
I hope this is the end of the series. I still like the first and would watch it again if it was on, but this is a void at all costs.
Don’t these people have jobs?
