Happy Canada Day in the County

Canada Day celebrations unfolded under fair skies in Wellington and Picton on Monday.

Wellington’s highlights also celebrated the 150th anniversary of the village and were held all weekend-long. Events started Friday with a supper at the Wellington Legion followed by ‘Wellington Thru the Ages’ musical gala at Highline Hall. Saturday featured a fishing derby, celebrity dragon boat races, a chicken barbecue and street dance, followed by fireworks on the beach. Canada Day itself kicked off early Monday with a pancake breakfast and the parade.

Picton’s motorists drove around Main Street as it was closed for sales and celebrations. Roaming entertainers and busking acts shared the Main Street with live local music.

Children and families flocked to Delhi park to play games, enjoy rides, eat, and finally, to cap off a busy day enjoying fireworks.
