Hard rain took Wonderland experience to a whole new level

More than 250 ride warriors on five buses descended on Canada’s Wonderland last weekend as part of the annual Emmanuel Baptist Church Bloomfield event last Saturday.
“We were prepared for anything the death defying rides and the weather could throw at us,” said Dan Dayton. “The morning was a little overcast so there were no line ups. We did ride after ride. One of the kids complained that they had to line up for five minutes. That shows you how empty the park was.
“We were due to have our meal together as a group at 1:30pm, just as the rain started, so we all piled into Pod 1 for all-you-can-eat burgers, hot dogs, pasta and the best strawberry shortcake you have ever tasted. We did however question the wisdom of an ‘all-you-can-eat’ menu as we attempted the next ride, but had no reports of a repeat appearance of anyone’s lunch.
“The rain came down harder and harder, but being an optimistic lot, we saw that as a new challenge. Riding the Behemoth in rain so hard that you can’t keep your eyes open takes the experience to a whole new level. Some guys ran the rides in their undershirts and compared welts when they finished!
“We arrived back at Emmanuel, damp and exhausted, with huge smiles on our faces. We had survived another trip to Canada’s Wonderland, and lived to tell the tale.”
