Have a voice – Last chance to complete survey on schools

With an aim to connect with communities, and to engage with students, families and employees, the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board invites these groups to share their opinions.

“We’re inviting these groups to have a voice with regard to safe, caring and welcoming schools for everyone,” said Kerry Donnell, communications officer. “The surveys are part of the Ministry of Education’s focus on positive school climate, and are connected to our system plan known as AiM—Achievement in Motion for Student Success.”

The surveys are intended for students in Grades 4-12, parents, guardians and school staff. Participation is voluntary and responses are anonymous. Data gathered will be used to plan district- and school-based actions.

How to complete a school climate survey:

The survey is web-based and is open until November 29, 2013. Links to the survey are posted on the home page of each school  . It takes approximately 20 to 30 minutes to complete. Paper copies are also available.

The survey allows feedback about school experiences in an anonymous way. There are no incorrect responses and survey results will not be used to evaluate schools or school staffs. The results of the surveys are to be used to determine next steps with regard to school improvement and board improvement planning. Highlights of the survey may be shared with community partners.

That’s for sure, this is simply the boards way to keep Moira and Quinte SS open by maintaining enrollment levels. Most kids from Kente and Rednersville go to Belleville and Trenton already.Perhaps having the parents pay extra for transportation would slow the flow a bit.We need a trustee with some spine to counter rather than endorse the directors plans for high schools.Support PECI!

How about we stop sending 5 or 6 buses a day to Belleville high schools?! Our high school population has shrunk to around 600 students, and fewer course options can be offered, because some people are convinced Belleville schools are better. They are not. We are shortchanging our county kids and killing our high school. We need to stop being complacent—-not everyone here is a retiree.
