Hazardous and electronic waste event in Wellington July 18

Residents are invited to dispose of household hazardous and electronic waste free of charge during a mobile event in Wellington Saturday, July 18.

GFL Environmental Services is hosting the at the Wellington and District Community Centre (111 Belleville Street) from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.

* NEW * Automotive waste is now accepted at mobile collection events. This includes motor oil, filters, and coolants. Outside of collection events, motor oil must be dropped off at the hazardous waste depot at 75 Wallbridge Crescent in Belleville.

NOTE: batteries brought to mobile collection events as well as the hazardous waste depot must have terminals taped as improperly stored or discarded batteries can cause fire.

GFL receives the following items at household hazardous waste sites and events:
Latex or oil-based paints
Coatings or spray paints
Aerosol containers
Solvents or turpentines
Furniture and paint strippers
Oil filters
Lubricating oil and containers
Automotive lead acid batteries
Household single-use dry cell and rechargeable batteries
Anti-freeze and containers
BBQ lighter fluids
Propane tanks and pressurized containers
Fertilizers
Pesticides
Insecticides and herbicides
Disinfectants
Rat and mouse poisons
Pool chemicals
Household cleaners
Used sharps
Medicines and prescriptions
Light tubes and bulbs
Gasoline and waste oil

Electronic waste can also be brought to the following municipal waste sites during regular hours of operation. (Hazardous waste is not accepted at municipal waste sites.)
Sophiasburgh (35 County Road 14)
South Marysburgh (1132 Old Milford Road)

Electronic waste includes display devices, phones, computers and peripherals, audio-visual systems, kids electronics, robots and RC toys, drones, wire and cable, auto parts, power tools, generators, light fixtures, musical instruments, microwave ovens, lawn and garden tools, cameras, clocks, video gaming devices, power supplies and extension cords, eBikes and scooters, lead acid batteries, small bar fridges, printers and air treatment devices.
