Home Hardware closed Thursday to honour life and legacy of founder Hank Busscher

The Busscher family and Home Hardware teams announce a notice of closure for 𝐓𝐡𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝟏𝟐, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 all of their locations for the day on Thursday, June 12 as they honour the life and legacy of Hank Busscher—the founder of the business and the heart behind Bay View Home Hardware, Picton Home Hardware, and Wellington Building Centre.

HENDRIK TJEERT ‘Hank’ BUSSCHER – November 16, 1942 – June 6, 2025 – Retired Owner/Operator – Home Hardware, Picton, Wellington, Belleville – Peacefully entered into rest surrounded by his loving family at the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital, on Friday, June 6, 2025, Hank Busscher, died at the age of 82. Son of the late Dirk and Greetje Busscher (nee Vanhoogan) and cherished husband for 57 years to Patricia (nee Britton). Loving father of Mark (Ruth Ann) of Hillier, and Adam (Chrissy) of Picton and grandfather of Mira, Nathan, Brooke and great grandfather of Harrison. Survived by his sister Sytske Mehlenbacher (Jim) of Hillsburgh and by his brother-in-law Stephen Britton (Tanya) of Ruislip, England and sister-in-law Jacqueline Thake (Roger) of Calgary. He will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews and extended family in England and the Netherlands. The family wish to express their gratitude and appreciation to all the staff at Picton Hospital for their care and compassion of Hank, specifically Dr. Sarah Leblanc, Dr. Jess Sussman, and Dr. Liam Portt, and all of the nursing staff. A Memorial Service will be held in the Rotary Hall at the Prince Edward Community Centre, 375 Main Street, Picton on Thursday, June 12, 2025 at 12 noon. Visitation will begin at 10 am until the time of the Memorial Service. Private Family Interment at Glenwood Cemetery. If desired, donations in memory of Hank to the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.
