Hospice Prince Edward welcomes two new faces to administrative team

Hospice Prince Edward is welcoming two new faces to the team this week.

Deb MacDonald

Deb MacDonald moves into to the role of Residential Manager, following the departure of Esther Howard last month.

“I developed my love for hospice and palliative care working as a PSW at Hospice Prince Edward and working along dedicated staff and amazing volunteers,” said MacDonald. “I saw first-hand the difference hospice can make to families and their loved ones. I am thrilled to be returning to HPE in a new role and look forward to working with everyone.”

The residential hospice also welcomes Gillian Chapman to the
team at Downes Avenue, Picton as Fundraising Co-ordinator, following the departure last month of Judy Fraser.

“I am looking forward to becoming a part of the Hospice Prince Edward family, to get to know the staff, volunteers and clients and help resource the wonderful, caring service,” said Chapman.

Gillian Chapman

Hospice Executive Director Karen Moore said Chapman’s work is already well under way, working with volunteers to participate in upcoming Santa Claus parades, as well as the Hospice’s year-end appeal and a new gala to unfold in 2018.

Moore noted Fraser’s last event, the Year of the Suddenly show at the Regent Theatre with Deborah Kimmett “was a great success and we are proud of her and that accomplishment.”

She noted Howard’s role as residential manager was challenging, rewarding and humbling, requiring many hours of on-call work to help residents and families.

“Both Esther and Judy’s dedication, commitment and service to Hospice Prince Edward and our community will be remembered fondly,” said Moore. “We wish them the best in their future endeavors.”

Hospice Prince Edward provides support, respite care and companionship to palliative patients and their families free of charge in the County. Services have been provided for the past 26 years. The end-of-life care residential facility opened in 2013. Click here for more on Hospice Prince Edward and its services.
