Joyce Minaker, manager of the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary craft group volunteers, turned over 379 hats and 56 pairs of mitts to Barb Sills, one of the organizers for the local OPP Keep Kids Warm winter wear program, and PEC Acting Sergeant Jeremy Weise.
Keep Kids Warm supports working families and those in need of assistance by providing children aged 12 and under with new, warm winter outer wear including snowsuits and boots.
Registration for this year’s program was in September and distribution is set to take place early November. Last year, more than 112 children were assisted, thanks to generous community support of the program.
