Hospital foundation appoints executive director

Leo Finnegan, chair of the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation announced today that following an extensive recruitment process the board has appointed Penny Rolinski, a Picton resident, to the position of Executive Director, effective Sept. 8, 2015.

“The recruitment process we initiated last spring resulted in a large number of applications from highly qualified candidates,” said Finnegan. “We are very pleased that we had such a range of choice and we are confident that by bringing Ms. Rolinski on board, we help ensure a strong and vibrant future for our hospital foundation.”

Penny Rolinski PECMH EDRolinski was born in the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital and attended elementary and secondary school here, as Penny Taylor. She left to study music at Wilfrid Laurier University and while there began fundraising for the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony Orchestra. That experience set her on her fundraising career and by her late 20s, she was running the Stratford Festival’s membership call centre, the largest of its kind in Canada, raising $1.25 million annually.

Within a few years she joined United Way of Kitchener-Waterloo and Area and was quickly promoted to campaign director where she oversaw three successful campaigns each raising in excess of $5.1 million.

During her career she has broadened her education in fund-raising and in such related fields as project management, volunteer partnerships, employment law, communications and finance.

A few years ago, with her husband, Ryner Rolinski, and daughter in tow, they returned to the County, moving onto the family farm with her mother.

“I was born in the County hospital and at one time or another nearly every member of my family has experienced the excellent care provided in PECMH. I am thrilled that I can play a small part in ensuring that quality of care continues here in the County,” Rolinski said.

“Ms. Rolinski steps into the role of executive director as we say goodbye and thank you to Hazel Lloyst, who has been the foundation’s director of development for the past year and a half,” said Finnegan.

“Hazel is responsible for breathing new life and energy into the foundation’s fundraising endeavours and we are very grateful to her and wish her great success with her new venture in creative writing. Now we are all looking forward to the future under Penny’s guidance and expertise,” Finnegan said.
