The 2023 Smile Cookie results are in and they’re sweeter than ever and will be the treat that keeps on giving at the County’s hospital.

Tim Hortons’ annual Smile Cookie Campaign raised $14,434.67 for the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation (PECMHF) last week. Topping the 2022 result by $1,429, this is the sweetest Smile Cookie result raised locally to date.

“This year’s campaign was a record-breaking success, and it wouldn’t have been possible without the loyal support of our customers and our dedicated staff and volunteers who worked tirelessly to create over 14,000 smiles to Back the Build for our new County hospital,” said Paul Massey, owner of the Picton and Wellington Tim Hortons.

The campaign ran for one week from May 1 to 7 where both the Picton and Wellington restaurants designated the proceeds of their chocolate chunk cookie sales to the PECMH Foundation for the 10th consecutive year.

This year’s campaign pushes Tim Hortons’ cumulative giving to $80,696 over 21 years.

“The relationship we have with our local Tim Hortons family is very special,” said Shannon Coull, executive director of the PECMH Foundation. “Paul Massey and the staff at Tim Hortons’ continue to invest in local healthcare, which is an investment in our community’s quality of life. This gift, made possible by all the customers who enjoyed cookies throughout the Smile Cookie campaign, will have an impact on the future of healthcare delivery in our community. And that’s something worth smiling about.”

“Thank you to Paul and to all the amazing donors for their positive support of our Back the Build campaign. You all put a smile on our face with this year’s fantastic result,” said Nancy Parks, Back the Build campaign cabinet chairperson. “Every donation, no matter the size, helps get us closer to reaching our $27M fundraising goal for the new hospital. With over $20.7M raised to-date, this gift from Tim Hortons will help ensure we have a new, leading-edge hospital armed with the best medical equipment possible.”

The Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation is raising $27M to help build a new hospital in Prince Edward County. The new 96k square foot hospital is projected to open in 2027. Donations received between now and 2027 will help to purchase the major medical equipment needed in the new hospital and incorporate environmental sustainability enhancements and smart technology into the design.

The Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation is a charitable organization dedicated to raising funds to advance health care for the patients of the hospital and the people of Prince Edward County.
