I am pretty excited to announce the opening of the virtual coffee shop, called The Hope For Today Cafe.
No, it’s not a real space but exists online.
I know a lot of people today need some hope. On a good day we are bombarded with images all day long on how bad things are and sometimes the future seems bleak. But then you add health issues and you can feel overwhelmed and isolated pretty quickly. So speaker and comic Robert Hawke and I created the Hope For Today Cafe which is a series of podcasts and writings designed to bring you a bit of wit and wisdom to help get you through the day.
Whether you or someone you love is going through a difficult situation with your health (physically or mentally) we want to hold your hand – virtually that is.
Robert and I got together because we both think humour has an incredible power to heal. And humour that speaks the truth has incredible healing power. As a cancer survivor, Robert not only created a one-man show called Norm vs. Cancer, he then took his amazing improv and teaching skills to create Laughter Workshops at Princess Margaret Hospital. And besides being a motivational speaker, I have had the heartbreaking experience of being with family members with long-term illness (Plus, I have had a special interest in Hospice. ( creating videos Talking to Sick People)
Whether you are sick, or someone you love is, the road can be long, confusing and not elegant. And since “Comforting 101” is not taught in school, we sometimes don’t how to take care of ourselves, or another’s needs without guilt and confusion.
So this cafe is a way for us to reach out. We have about six podcasts so far. ( CLICK HERE) They are all free One is called “I don’t know what to say.” “How to Gather Your Tribe of Supporters and Laughter is the Best Medicine.
We all need a little hope. So join our Facebook page for free and we look forward to inspiring you.to inspire you.
