In Conversation: Trump Presidency and What’s Next for Canada

A fundraising evening for the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation will feature acclaimed writer and political commentator David Frum, in conversation with academic and publisher Karen Valihora, on Thursday, July 24, 2025, at The Regent Theatre in Picton

“The Trump Presidency and What’s Next for Canada,” themes a thought-provoking discussion promising insight into the shifting political landscape and its implications north of the border.

Frum’s decades of experience in American politics and Valihora’s in the academy and in journalism will combine to offer thoughtful and incisive discussion on the pivotal political issues shaping North America today.

Tickets are $50 per person, with an optional $50 private mix-and-mingle session with the speakers following the event. Availability is limited.

Proceeds will directly support the purchase of a new mammography machine for the future Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital, a critical advancement for local healthcare and early breast cancer detection.

This special event is generously sponsored by Bay of Quinte Mutual Insurance Co, making the evening possible.

Frum is a staff writer at The Atlantic and the host of The David Frum Show podcast. He is the author of ten books, including the New York Times bestsellers Trumpocracy and The Right Man. Frum has served as a speechwriter for President George W. Bush and chaired the board of the UK’s Policy Exchange think tank. A graduate of Yale and Harvard Law, he divides his time between Washington, DC, and Wellington, Ontario.

Valihora is a professor in the English department at York University and co-publisher of the Picton Gazette. Her academic work explores the history of objective judgment and moral thought in literature and philosophy, and she has degrees from McGill and Yale. She and her husband, Chris Fanning, reside in Prince Edward County with their children, and are active contributors to the region’s civic and cultural life.
