Inch re-elected as school board chair

Trustee Dwayne Inch was re-elected as chair of the Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board, and Lucille Kyle was elected as vice-chair, at the public board meeting held Monday.

The chair and vice-chair positions are elected annually each December.
Inch expressed appreciation to fellow board members for placing their trust in him, once again.

“I really appreciate support of the board members who elected me. With a new board now in place for the next four years, we will concentrate on fulfilling the goals and priorities in the AiM System Plan,” said Inch. “Our purpose is to ensure programs and services are in place to support the achievement and well-being of each student in our school district.”

Kyle, in her remarks on being elected as vice-chair, remarked on learning together and engaging with students.

“Our students are the future citizens and leaders in our communities. It is an exciting time to be in education governance, especially as we engage with our communities about public education and the well-being and achievement of students,” said Kyle.

Inch was first elected to the board in December 2006 and was acclaimed as a school board trustee in the October 2010 and October 2014 municipal elections. He was appointed Board chair in June 2011, and was re-elected to that role in December 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014.
He represents South Prince Edward County, with the following schools in his electoral area:
·         Athol-South Marysburgh Public School
·         Pinecrest Memorial Elementary School
·         Queen Elizabeth School (Picton)
·         Prince Edward Collegiate Institute

Kyle was first elected to the Board in the October 2010 municipal elected and was re-elected in October 2014.
Kyle represents North Hastings, with the following schools in her electoral area:
·         Bird’s Creek Public School
·         Coe Hill School
·         Hermon Public School
·         Maynooth Public School
·         North Hastings High School
·         York River Public School

Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board serves approximately 15,100 students each day at 39 elementary and eight secondary schools.
