It’s an Honor exhibit free of charge July 27-28

It's-An-Honour!-Travelling-Exhibit-2015The ‘It’s An Honour!’ travelling exhibit about the Canadian Honours System now making its way across the country will come to Picton July 27-28.

The exhibit is travelling throughout Ontario until the end of July. Mounted in a specially designed 1,000-square-foot vehicle, the exhibit showcases stories of great Canadians who have been recognized for their extraordinary achievements with national honours such as the Order of Canada, Decorations for Bravery and Military Valour Decorations.

Featuring interpretative panels, multimedia elements and artifacts, the space provides an opportunity for visitors to learn more about these honours through an interactive learning experience.

The exhibit will be open to the public from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, July 27 and Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at the Macaulay Heritage Park (35 Church Street), Picton. Admission is free of charge.

Visitors can catch a glimpse of insignia and medals, discover the unique stories of many honours recipients and watch a hologram message from former Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield.

Visitors can also learn more on the role and responsibilities of the Governor General of Canada and how to nominate deserving individuals from their community for national honours.

Since summer 2013, the exhibit has travelled through Saskatchewan, the Northwest Territories, Yukon, Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Quebec. In September 2013, His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, officially launched the exhibit at Henry Wise Wood Senior High School, in Calgary, Alberta.
