Get your Comic-on at the Picton Library! – September 25

salgoodsamWe’re “Spreading love for comics and sequential art of all kinds” with comics creator Salgood Sam at the library’s Comics & Graphic Novels Launch September 25 at 6 p.m.

Join Salgood Sam, 2013 Joe Schuster Award nominee, as he shares his experience in the world of comics, from his time with Marvel, to his most recent independent work, as he visits the Picton Branch Library. Many fans will be followers of his widely read comic news blog Sequential.

Following the library event, head down to the Acoustic Grill to the monthly Comix Jam. Salgood Sam, who was the founder of the Monthly Montreal Comix Jam that inspired the similar monthly event in Picton, will be heading to the Acoustic too.

Special thanks to the comics lovers in Prince Edward County whose generous donations of over 500 graphic novels and comics for adults have made the library’s collection one of the best in the province!

Saturday, Sept. 14 Visit the library Tea Party Tent at the Milford Fair. Chat with authors Vicki Delany, Janet Kellough and Ann McLurg, enjoy tea and browse the used book sale table. Sam Hirst entertains the young ones at 3:15 at the tent.

Tuesday, September 17 Wellington Friends of the Library Benefit Bridge Wellington Branch library 1p.m.. Fundraiser for the library. Cost $8 includes bridge and dessert. Contact Dianne at 613-399-2023 to reserve a table.

Thursday, September 19th Third Thursday Lectures at the Library: What is Proportional Representation voting? Presented by Norm Hart and Fair Vote Canada. Picton branch library 7p.m.

Friday, September 20th Six weeks of TED Talks at Lunch. Bring your lunch (or not) to the library each Friday from September 20th to October 25th at 12:15 to hear a TED talk on the big screen. Brief discussion on the talk to follow. First Talk to be shown: The Case for Collaborative Consumption by Rachel Botsman. (17 minutes). Event ends at 1p.m.
