Kids cast for most, smallest and weirdest catches

Snakes, snails, a Star Wars mask – but few fish – were catches of the day at the annual Bloomfield Hallowell Kids Fishing Derby.
“We had beautiful weather and the kids were happy and excited but unfortunately there were not a lot of fish in the pond,” reports Glenda Keller. “About 105 kids registered, which is a bit down from the last couple of years, but the “big” fishing derby was the same weekend.”
The results:
1st place- Emma Wilson – 29″ pike
2nd place- Matthew Walsh – 27″ pike
3rd place- Thomas Crowe with a sad story about “the one that got away” Keller reports it would have been the winner “but they caught it and had it on the bank then it flipped back into the water before anyone could measure it so someone got a picture and we gave it 3rd.
Smallest fish- Vincent Ryn – a 2” minnow.
Strangest catch- Kayden Insley – Star Wars mask
Most fish caught – Hailey Brown. “We actually gave this to a kid that really didn’t catch any fish at all. It was the only one who caught more than one item – a snail and a snake.
