Kids Helping Kids hits high note for CAS Angel Campaign

Kids Helping Kids reached out in song to the County’s less fortunate children Saturday night at Prince Edward Collegiate Institute.
More than a dozen young performers belted out favourite songs during the fundraiser for the Children’s Aid Society’s Christmas Angel Campaign.
“I thank organizer Amy Rutherford and all these young entertainers for this night of prime entertainment,” said Wayne Gibbs, of the Picton CAS. “The Kids Helping Kids night is very appropriate as all the funds raised are helping children 16 and under in Prince Edward County.”
The evening was hosted by school board trustee Dwayne Inch, who also thanks the many friends and business sponsors in the community for services and silent auction gifts for the third annual event.
Amy Rutherford opened the show with “Arms of an Angel” followed by “Behind Blue Eyes”, a duet with Emily Griffen.
Emma Woodward sang “Whitehorse”, followed by Cole Norton with “Drops of Jupiter”.
Becky Elliott mixed in with “Tonight Cowboy, You’re Mine”, “If I Die Young” and “Wishing”. Claire Stenhouse followed with “Unwritten” and “Breathe”.
Kydra Mayhew opened with “Paparazzi” and followed with “Bless The Broken Road”. Lisa Nguyen made her first appearance on stage singing “I Can Only Imagine.”
Following intermission, Amy Rutherford accompanied Katie Shannon for “Savior” (see video below) and Katie followed up with “At Last” and “Lithium”.
Mark Bass, teacher at CML Snider School, accompanied Tatyana Sylla for “Whiskey Lullaby” and “Beautiful”.
Chris McMahon followed with “What a Wonderful World” (see video below). Emily Arnold brought “Cowboy Sweetheart” and “Country Sunshine”.
Amy Rutherford returned to present “My Immortal” and “Feeling Good”. Abilgail Chapman closed the show with “Mary Did You Know”.

Some of the County’s most talented youth will raise their voices in song in the annual Kids Helping Kids evening of music to help bring the magic of Christmas to all County children.

Former PECI student Amy Sedore started the event in 2008 and it has raised in excess of $4,000 to assist the Childrens’ Aid Society Angel Campaign.

This year Kids Helping Kids will be held Saturday, Nov. 20th from 7-9:30 p.m. at Prince Edward Collegiate Institute. Tickets: $10 can be purchased at: Strum – 252 Main Street, Picton; by calling 613-476-3982 (10-8pm) or by emailing KidsHelpingKidsFundraiser2010@gmail.com to have ticket reserved and held at the door.
