Kraemer named interim fire chief

Tim Kraemer has been named interim fire chief following the departure of chief Chad Brown. Pat Howe is to be the acting deputy fire chief.

The municipality has not provided details regarding the departure. Brown was took over as chief Dec. 6, the fourth since amalgamation, following the retirement of Robert Rutter.

He had been the fire chief for Mississippi Mills in Lanark County, and prior as the Deputy Chief for Peterborough, as well as continuing to be an active member of the Otonabee South Monaghan Fire Service as a volunteer firefighter.

    Hopefully County staff will take their time on the hiring process. Fire Chiefs seem to be like hockey coaches, they get fired from one team and show up on another.
