Laughter will be the best medicine to treat the January blahs and it’s being dispensed in Milford by one funny lady, accompanied by one fabulous singer.
Deborah Kimmett will whip her audience into a frenzy of laughter with hysterical and touching stories as she takes the stage Saturday, Jan. 16 at Mt. Tabor. Joining her will be singer Kim Pollard to create an evening of songs and storytelling.
Kimmett is heard regularly on CBC Radio’s The Debaters and the Winnipeg Comedy Festival. The Second City comedy veteran is a sought-after emcee and speaker. Her passion is coaching people who want to write by helping them discover their creativity through bootcamps, podcasts and online writing toolkits.
Rehearsals for Milford’s show are under way. The show will also be held in Toronto Jan. 24.
“I used to have a piano teacher on Amherst Island who asked me “When you prepare your little comedy skits do you walk around the house talking to yourself?” and I was very insulted and said, ” No, No. It’s very complex. There is a great science to it. There is structure and timing and coffee. And today as I prep for my show I realized yes, yes I do walk around the house talking to myself. Sometimes I even make myself laugh. So I talk to myself and laugh at myself. And sometimes I find myself hilarious and other times I yell out ” That’s not funny.” Yes I even heckle myself.”
Tickets, $20, for the show at Side Street Gallery in Wellington and Books & Company in Picton, or, click here to buy online: http://kimmett.ca/shop/for-the-exposure-tour/
