Learn about emerging wildlife diseases Sept. 26

The public is invited to join the Prince Edward County Field Naturalists as they learn about emerging wildlife diseases at their meeting Tuesday, Sept. 26 at 7 p.m. in the Bloomfield Town Hall.
Ian Barker will present ‘Emerging Wildlife Diseases I have Known’ relating to his career of surveillance for, and research on, problems potentially impacting free-living and captive wildlife, domestic animals and human beings.
Noting many of the emerging diseases are likely to be affected by climate change, in this talk he will explore many of the diseases and trends he has encountered.
Barker is a university professor emeritus of pathology and wildlife disease at the Ontario Vetgerinary College, University of Guelph and the founding director of the Ontario/Nunavut region of the Canadian Wildlife Health Co-operative.
