Life jackets saved men after boat sank

Prince Edward OPP credit life jackets for saving the lives of two men who swam to shore after their boat sank in Lake Ontario.

Sunday at about 2:30 am officers were dispatched to a home on Stinson Block road, Consecon, to assist with the incident.

Cst. Kim Guthrie reports the home’s occupant awoke to knocking on his door.

“He found a male party wet, and in distress, advising he and some friends were out on Lake Ontario when their 17′ fibreglass boat sank and they ended up in the water approximately two miles off shore.”

Guthrie noted initial information was relayed that more people were still out in the water but it was later clarified that two dogs were on board and now missing.

“The two males, each 38-years-old, were wearing life jackets which was critical to them making their way back to shore and surviving the incident. Ultimately one dog was located, but the other is still missing.”

Life jackets save lives what a great example to set for others. Certainly the men along with their friends and family are grateful. Hopefully the missing dog will be found safe
