Lottery win gives Picton resident ‘options’

Peter Hercus with his winnings

Saying “yes” to playing the Encore portion of his Lotto Max lottery ticket paid off for Peter Hercus of Picton, who won $100,000.

Peter, a 59-year-old teacher, said he is a regular lottery player who always chooses Quick Picks.

“I was having a coffee at home one morning and checking my numbers on the website,” he shared while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up his winnings. “I said, ‘Oh I got one number,’ then suddenly I realized I had six!”

He plans to share some of his winnings with his children, complete some home renovations and have some fun. “It feels great! It gives us options,” he smiled.

Encore can be played in conjunction with most lottery games for an extra $1. He purchased his winning ticket at Foodmart on Bridge Street in Hastings

OLG is currently booking in-person prize claim appointments at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto only for those claims that require a face-to-face interview. Customers with prizes over $50,000 are asked to call 1-800-387-0098 to discuss available prize claim options. Prize claims up to $49,999.90 should continue to be submitted by mail.
