Lunches focus on living well in the County

The Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation has partnered with Wellings of Picton to present a series of informative and enlightenment lunches with a focus on health and the County hospital.

The luncheons will pair health promotion and wine tastings with a three-course meal while examining topics pertaining to the County hospital, Family Health Team and related wellness-inspired organizations.

“These gatherings will offer attendees the opportunity to hear and learn from Prince Edward County’s most influential and credible health leaders on topics that interest them,” said Penny Rolinski, PECMHF Executive Director.

The first lunch in the series is set for Friday, March 11, 11:30 a.m., at Casa-Dea Estates Winery at 1186 Greer Road in Wellington.

Delores Chalmers, registered nurse and team leader of the Endoscopy Department at PECMH will inform, entertain and educate guests about the importance of scoping for the early detection and prevention of colorectal cancer.

“Chalmers’ presentation fits nicely with the Foundation’s efforts in the community to replace three colonoscopes and three gastroscopes for the Endoscopy Department,” said Rolinski.

PECMH is a low risk endoscopic centre and Mrs. Chalmers will speak to how donations for the replacement scopes are needed to keep this service efficient and of high calibre in the County.

“The speaking program will focus on maintaining and improving health and overall wellness. Our guests will not only enjoy fantastic food and great wine at one of Prince Edward County’s premier wineries, they will also have an opportunity get out and visit with other like-minded people and hear interesting and relevant speakers while supporting our County hospital,” said Rolinski.

Another presentation is planned for April at The Grange of Prince Edward Vineyards and Estate Winery. Details to follow.

“The Wellings of Picton is pleased to have partnered with the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation to offer this series of great fundraising events. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn more about what our local hospital has to offer, a chance to find out more about preventative health measures, at the same time enjoying County food and wine,” said Rachel Henry, marketing manager, Wellings of Picton.

Each luncheon is $35 per person which includes taxes, gratuity and a tax receipt for $10. Tickets are available now through the PECMH Foundation office at 613-476-1008 ext. 4425 or online at There will only be a limited number of tickets at the door.
