Meet County’s Don Harvey at book signing for his sci-fi novel

Prince Edward County’s Don Harvey will take readers into outer space with the release of his science fiction adventure novel. The book is to be launched at a signing at Books and Company in Picton on Saturday, June 24 from 2-4pm.

“The 1st Gunman”, published by AuthorHouse, takes place in outer space on newly-colonized planets Mars, New Harvest and Sooule. The story begins when mankind left earth. Humanity had lost almost all of its will to fight, but still needed protection – and Joshua Garvie, leader of the Gunman’s Element, is always ready to defend humanity.

The Sooul were being harvested and were about to become extinct. But they will survive if Garvie has his say.

Harvey said he hopes the internal struggles of Garvie to hold himself to conflicting standards, and the contrast of his strong focus and purpose against his kindness and humor, will appeal to readers.

“We all have roles in our lives that from time-to-time we must step out of,” Harvey said. “The difficulty in having many roles in life – each one of them being important – is relevant to most people in their lives and careers.”

Harvey is a long-time resident of Picton with his wife Teresa. They have two children, Ashley and Joshua, who are young adults. He is an avid hunter who enjoys yearly trips to northern Ontario. When not working, he is in his shop conversing with friends, and stepping around Lily, his German Shepherd. He is a proud mason in Prince Edward Lodge Number 18.
